Tailgating for a Cause – PWS 2016

My name is Kara and I work as a Brand Manager here at Renaissance Rentals. I’m so lucky to work for such an amazing company. I’m proud to say I really love my job!

I have a 9 month old nephew with Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS). His name is Evan is already passing major milestones considering his condition. He’s crawling, communicating and smiling 🙂 Here’s a little more about PWS and it’s effects:

  • Rare genetic condition
  • Failure to thrive
  • Physical, cognitive disabilities
  • Anxiety, aggression, behavior issues
  • Infertility
  • Life expectancy- 30 years
  • Insatiable appetite, unrelenting hunger
  • No cure

In early October, Renaissance Rentals opened up a parking lot at their Scholars Rock community. There we hosted a tailgate for the IU vs Michigan State Game (Go Hoosiers!) football game. Anyone parking in the lot graciously donated money towards Prader Willi Sydrome (PWS) research.

With all of the cars that parked in our lot, we reached a whopping $500 in donations! The owners of our company, Tim Henke & Steve Bodi, were kind enough to MATCH this donation. The donation was then matched again by the PWS charity we donated the amount to for a total of $2000. Thank you to those who donated!

If you’d like to read about Evan’s story or even donate to PWS research, please visit their website.

Feel free to follow his Facebook page! My sister-in-law, Natalie frequently posts adorable picture updates.

Thanks for reading!
